Through its Vocational Training Institutes (VTIs), the GHCL Foundation, the corporate social responsibility division of India’s top soda ash company GHCL, has empowered over 5,500 young people in rural Gujarat by promoting employment possibilities and offering industry-ready skills. Notably, girls make up 65% of the enrolled students, demonstrating the Foundation’s dedication to equal opportunity and women’s empowerment.
The GHCL Foundation has extended its reach to Sutrapada (Gir Somnath), Port Victor (Amreli), Gadu (Junagadh), Talala (Gir Somnath), Mota Layja (Kutch), Kaj (Junagadh), and Prachi (Gir Somnath) since the establishment of its first VTI in Jafrabad, Amreli district, in 2016. These institutions actively promote the Government of India’s Skill India Mission and collaborate with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The VTIs offered by the GHCL Foundation adhere to a 360° training framework, providing students with a comprehensive education by fusing technical know-how, industrial preparation, and personal development. This guarantees that students are completely prepared for long-term employability. In fields like BPO, electrical support, nursing, sewing, and fitting & fabrication, students gain practical instruction.
Leading companies including Adani Group, Arvind Mills, Hyundai Motors India Limited, BKT Tyres, and Aayush Hospitals have hired students who attended the GHCL Foundation’s VTIs. The majority of them hold their jobs for an extended period of time, and their typical monthly incomes range from Rs 9,500 to Rs 16,500.
“GHCL is dedicated to community development in the areas where we operate as a responsible corporate citizen,” stated NN Radia, Chairman of the GHCL Foundation. Our VTIs are based on the idea that the most powerful tool for empowering young people is their skills. We are improving livelihoods and adding to India’s skilled workforce by developing talent that is ready for the industry. Our students’ successful placements show the value of consistent dedication and solid community ties.
The highest placement rates have been seen in BPO, electrical assistance, and nursing courses, which reflects the program’s congruence with market need and its importance in giving rural youngsters secure career routes.
Collaborations with more than 350 businesses and hospitals, such as Welspun, Just Dial, Sky Textiles, Adani Solar, German Calibration Lab, Varmora Tiles, Balaji Wafers, Hyundai, Harshal Engineering, BKT, and Shaktiman, contribute to the success of the GHCL Foundation’s VTIs. These collaborations guarantee that courses stay current and give students the skills that employers value most.
The GHCL Foundation keeps growing its vocational training programmes throughout Gujarat, helping young people—particularly young women—to find respectable jobs and promoting inclusive development in the areas it works in.
