With the establishment of the “Axis Bank FutureTech CSR Initiative” at Plaksha University, Axis Bank, one of the biggest private sector banks in India, has strengthened its dedication to promoting technology education and research. The construction of the “Axis Bank FutureTech Building”, a cutting-edge facility intended to promote experiential learning and multidisciplinary research and improve cooperation between industry and academics, is the cornerstone of the bank’s commitment. This long-term collaboration highlights Axis Bank’s early support of Plaksha University’s mission to transform Indian higher education. Additionally, it emphasises the Bank’s support for “Viksit Bharat 2047” by highlighting its role in the development of cutting-edge technologies in the Chandigarh tri-city region, a developing technology cluster.
In addition to fostering industry-academia collaboration and serving as a hub for information sharing, this new infrastructure on the university campus is intended to play a crucial role in pioneering cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research and innovation. Along with other cutting-edge facilities, the facility will house the School of AI & Computer Science and the Institute for Inventing the Future.
Plaksha will be able to concentrate on interdisciplinary learning, experimentation, and innovation at scale thanks to the Axis Bank FutureTech CSR Initiative, which will also help the university’s long-term institutional growth. “At Axis Bank, we believe that innovation is a national imperative,” stated Amitabh Chaudhry, Managing Director and CEO, at the inaugural ceremony. More than just physical space, the FutureTech Building represents Axis Bank’s dedication to supporting innovation, encouraging teamwork, and investing in the future of India’s tech talent. Our belief that India needs to foster top-notch research and educational ecosystems is in line with our long-standing collaboration with Plaksha University. Through funding research, scholarships, PhD fellowships, and state-of-the-art infrastructure, we are creating a talent pipeline that will propel advancements in deep-tech, artificial intelligence, and new technologies, resulting in both societal benefit and economic prosperity.
Prof. Rudra Pratap, Founding Vice Chancellor of Plaksha University, stated, “This partnership represents more than financial support—a shared vision to advance India’s technology and research capabilities.” Because of Axis Bank’s dedication, we have been able to create an environment where researchers and students can work together, come up with new ideas, and turn cutting-edge technology research into useful solutions that have an influence on society. We are incredibly appreciative of their sustained faith in our work,” he continued.
One of the first organisations to support Plaksha University was Axis Bank. Over thirty undergraduate scholars have been supported by the Axis Bank Scholarship Program since 2021; sixteen of these scholars graduated in July 2025 as part of Plaksha’s inaugural graduating class. The assistance of Axis Bank shows how smart corporate social responsibility (CSR) and group giving may support India’s goals in research and innovation for the development of the country.
