In order to enable smart education through digital infrastructure, Muthoot Finance, India’s largest gold-loan NBFC, has launched its new CSR initiative, “Muthoot Shiksha Jyothi“. As part of the project’s first phase, 75 smart interactive panels with 65-inch screens will be deployed across government upper primary and high schools in various regions.
Schools in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Ludhiana (Punjab), Odisha, Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Pune, Kolkata, Siliguri, Raipur, and Guwahati will benefit from the curriculum, which was formally introduced at Paul George Global School in Alaknanda, New Delhi. Smt Shikha Roy, MLA for the Greater Kailash (GK) Constituency; Shri Alexander George Muthoot, Joint Managing Director of Muthoot Finance; Shri George M. George, Deputy Managing Director of Muthoot Finance; and Shri Vijender Gupta, Hon’ble Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha, Delhi, were the chief guests at the launch event.
The joint managing director of Muthoot Finance, Alexander George Muthoot, spoke at the launch and stated, “Education remains the cornerstone of our CSR philosophy, accounting for nearly 75 percent of our overall CSR spending.” We are improving the digital infrastructure in government schools through “Muthoot Shiksha Jyothi” so that students from all over the world can have better access to technology-driven education.
Muthoot Finance’s Deputy Managing Director, George M. George, stated: “Our CSR strategy is centred on generating lasting influence at the local level. By providing access to digital learning resources that can assist instructors and students in regular classroom instruction, “Muthoot Shiksha Jyothi” fills a significant infrastructure vacuum.
The initiative’s smart interactive panels are designed to lower the digital divide in public education systems, improve classroom participation, and enable digital teaching tools. After the pilot phase is over, Muthoot Finance will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the programme’s results and implementation on the ground. In later stages, Muthoot Finance will expand Muthoot Shiksha Jyothi to further locations in accordance with local needs and priorities, based on the lessons learnt and the initiative’s proven impact.
