Infosys Foundations’ livelihood program enables 2.5 lakh job offers

Infosys Foundation has announced that its Infosys Springboard Livelihood Program has enabled more than 2.5 lakh job offers across India.

Infosys Foundation has announced that its Infosys Springboard Livelihood Program has enabled more than 2.5 lakh job offers across India. This marks the halfway point toward the Foundation’s aspiration of creating half a million job opportunities in the country by 2030. The program, launched last year, runs through a network of 20 implementation partners.

Halfway to the 2030 aspiration

The 2.5 lakh figure refers to job offers enabled through the program. It does not mean that 2.5 lakh jobs have been created, or that the same number of people have been placed in employment. The Foundation’s aspiration is to create 5 lakh job opportunities in India by 2030, and the current number is half of that goal. The 5 lakh figure remains an aspiration, not a confirmed outcome.

How the program works

The Infosys Springboard Livelihood Program began last year and focuses on industry-relevant skilling, employment pathways and ecosystem partnerships. It is run through 20 implementation partners, including Nirmaan Organization, ICT Academy, Magic Bus, Centum Foundation and Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India). Partners describe the participants as including young people from underserved and first-generation learner backgrounds.

Breakdown of job offers

The Foundation has shared figures by education level and by group. More than 1.17 lakh job offers have gone to graduates and over 96,000 to undergraduates. Together, these two groups account for about 2.13 lakh offers, which is below the overall total of more than 2.5 lakh. The split therefore does not cover every offer made under the program. The announcement also reports more than 1.25 lakh job offers for women and over 1,000 for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

Work on disability inclusion

For the program’s employment platform, Infosys Foundation collaborated with AssisTech Foundation (ATF). It will also work with The Association of People with Disability (APD) to expand access to career opportunities for people with disabilities. The announcement does not describe how this expansion will be carried out or what results are expected from it.
