AIIMS Guwahati has strengthened its super-specialty healthcare services with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art neurosurgical operation theatre, marking a significant step forward in advanced medical care for the Northeast region.
The newly launched facility is designed to enhance the institute’s capabilities in handling complex brain and spine surgeries. Equipped with modern technology, the operation theatre aims to improve surgical precision, patient safety, and overall treatment outcomes. The initiative reflects the institute’s growing focus on delivering high-quality and accessible healthcare to a wider population.
The advanced neurosurgical operation theatre was formally inaugurated by Ashok Puranik, who emphasized the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure through collaboration. He highlighted that partnerships between institutions and organizations play a key role in expanding medical capabilities, particularly in emerging healthcare centers serving large and diverse populations.
The project was made possible through financial support of approximately ₹6.5 crore provided by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The funding enabled the procurement and installation of advanced neurosurgical equipment, which is expected to significantly improve the institute’s ability to manage complicated medical cases.
During the inauguration, Surendra Kumar Majhi reiterated the organization’s commitment to contributing to social development through targeted CSR efforts. He noted that healthcare remains a key focus area, where investments can directly impact people’s lives by improving access to quality treatment.
Officials at the institute stated that the new facility would play a crucial role in addressing the increasing demand for specialized neurosurgical care. As a major referral center for the Northeast, AIIMS Guwahati caters to patients from multiple states, many of whom require advanced treatment options that were previously limited or required travel to other regions.
The introduction of this cutting-edge operation theatre is expected to ease that burden by bringing sophisticated medical services closer to patients. It will also support doctors in performing intricate procedures with greater efficiency and accuracy, ultimately leading to better recovery outcomes.
This development underscores the growing importance of CSR-driven collaborations in strengthening public healthcare infrastructure. By combining institutional expertise with corporate funding support, such initiatives help bridge gaps in medical resources and improve service delivery in underserved areas.
Overall, the inauguration of the advanced neurosurgical operation theatre represents a meaningful advancement for AIIMS Guwahati. It not only enhances the institute’s clinical capabilities but also reinforces its role as a key healthcare hub in the region, committed to providing modern, reliable, and patient-centric medical services.
