As part of its CSR efforts, Ambuja Cements, the cement and building materials company of the diverse Adani Portfolio, has established a nutrition centre specifically for health education in Bathinda’s Mehma Sawai hamlet. This programme was a component of a broader endeavour to use community-based, local interventions to prevent and control non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes and hypertension.
The centre provides a practical, village-level approach to health education because there is little access to official healthcare in the area. The facility offers individualised therapy, kitchen gardening demonstrations, and awareness seminars under the direction of a qualified health volunteer. The project generated interest and boosted participation in the community through door-to-door outreach, seed distribution, street performances, and other gatherings.
The centre gradually established itself as a well-known and reliable resource for learning about balanced diets, the value of regular exercise, and early warning signals of disease, particularly for women. It enabled families to use previously unattainable resources to make well-informed decisions.
Encouraged by this achievement, Ambuja Cements has already opened nine of these nutrition facilities throughout Bathinda. In order to ensure that every household is prepared to take tiny, long-lasting measures towards improved wellbeing, each centre contributes to the creation of preventive health knowledge as a shared community asset.
