In partnership with United Way Mumbai (UWM), a well-known social impact NGO, Branch International, a leading NBFC, has effectively implemented the Saksham, Promoting Entrepreneurship among Women project. 63 women from Maharashtra’s Badlapur, Bhiwandi, and Diva were given the tools they needed to start their own businesses and become financially independent.
Through interactive modules, group discussions, and practical workshops, participants in the three-day (18-hour) Entrepreneurial Development Program (EDP) were trained in fundamental business and financial management skills. The curriculum was created to be accessible to women regardless of their academic background and was taught by professional trainers and subject-matter experts. The training’s objectives were to foster an entrepreneurial mindset and provide participants with useful, doable tools for growing and expanding their microbusinesses.
Each participant in the programme received a Saksham Business Toolkit that was customised to their unique abilities and goals. These toolkits, which are made in accordance with the needs of every business category, offer prompt and useful assistance. These toolkits act as a vital link between opportunity and talent, empowering women to start or grow profitable businesses and create sustainable lifestyles. “At Branch, our CSR philosophy in India is to enable communities to thrive by strengthening financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and essential social development needs,” stated Neeraj Gupta, MD, Branch India. The impact we can make together is demonstrated by the Saksham initiative, which has aided 63 female entrepreneurs. In order to bring about long-lasting, systemic change, we are eager to expand our CSR efforts across a variety of issues.
“We advocate for empowering women to change lives and communities,” stated George Aikara, CEO of United Way Mumbai. With the help of Branch International and the Saksham project, we were able to help 63 women entrepreneurs from under-represented groups in Mumbai achieve their goals. Through this collaboration, these women were able to improve their communities, families, and themselves by establishing the groundwork for long-term financial independence.
A number of motivational beneficiary stories were also showcased during the event, ranging from women who had previously launched small enterprises and were prepared to expand to those who were just starting out. The programme demonstrates Branch International’s ongoing dedication to financial inclusion, community development, and women’s empowerment, all of which are in line with its goal of establishing fair economic possibilities.
The Saksham project’s success serves as an example of how intentional collaborations can have significant and quantifiable social benefit. 63 women are now more prepared to turn their talents into successful enterprises, support their families, and boost local economies because of Branch International’s assistance.
