CanSupport opened two Mobile Palliative Care Clinics (MPCCs) from Optum’s Gurgaon office in a major move to increase access to compassionate healthcare. In order to provide underprivileged cancer patients with free, comprehensive palliative care services and to guarantee dignity, comfort, and compassionate support for both patients and carers, Optum India is supporting this effort as part of its CSR programme.

Uma Ratnam Krishnan, Managing Director, Optum India; Dr Ambika Rajvanshi, CEO, CanSupport; and Jon Mahrt, CEO of Optum Rx and Chief Growth Officer, Optum, officially unveiled the vans.

In order to assist patients during treatment, minimise avoidable hospital stays, and facilitate reintegration into daily life, the MPCCs will offer a wide range of medical, nursing, nutritional, psychosocial, and financial support. On specified days, it will be positioned outside of large government hospitals, offering cancer treatment. In the afternoons, it will move across the Delhi region to promote early referrals for palliative care and to increase awareness of cancer prevention. “At Optum India, we believe that meaningful change is driven by collaboration and compassion,” stated Uma Ratnam Krishnan, Managing Director, during the launch. Our goal to increase access to high-quality cancer care has advanced significantly with the launch of mobile palliative care clinics in collaboration with CanSupport. We are assisting in making sure that patients and their families receive timely and crucial support at their doorstep by reaching underprivileged communities around Delhi-NCR.
