With the help of Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), Malpe, Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Government of India Public Sector Undertaking, signed contracts with a number of NGOs to carry out a number of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The goal of these projects is to improve Udupi’s communal and educational infrastructure. Three NGOs in Malpe signed Memorandums of Understanding to finance projects totalling ₹1.05 crore.
CSL Director Seema Suri, UCSL CEO A. Harikumar, CSL Head (CSR) Sampath Kumar, and other authorities and NGO representatives attended the signing event. CSL granted ₹25 lakh in funding under its CSR plan to build an open auditorium at Gandhi Shatabdi Government Model Higher Primary School, Malpe. The project will be carried out by the Palli Srinivas Hegde Charitable Trust. The project’s goals are to improve school facilities and offer a specific area for community, cultural, and academic events.
In a different project, the Mahalaxmi Charitable Trust will carry out the 60 lakh that CSL approved for the building of a Samudaya Bhavana in Uchila. In addition to supporting local communities’ social, cultural, and welfare endeavours, the facility will be a significant location for public events.
Additionally, the Geethanand Foundation was given ₹20 lakh by CSL to build a community hall at Seethalakshmi and B.M. Ramakrishna Hathwar Government High School in Beejadi. By supporting school programmes, student activities, and community events, the proposed facility will improve the local educational infrastructure.
With offices in Malpe and Hangerkatte, UCSL supports CSL’s CSR efforts in Karnataka by working with project sponsors and making sure community suggestions are carried out successfully. According to a release, the projects demonstrate CSL’s ongoing dedication to social infrastructure, community development, and education through targeted CSR interventions in coastal Karnataka.
