This year’s theme for Children’s Day in India, which honours children and highlights the country’s youthful potential, is “Investing in the Future,” which emphasises the vital role that early education plays in forming the citizens of tomorrow. Cosmo Foundation, the charitable division of Cosmo First Limited, reaffirmed its long-standing dedication to empowering rural children with solid foundational education on the occasion of Children’s Day. The Foundation has been working steadily to improve literacy and numeracy abilities for more than 15 years, helping thousands of young students in rural Gujarat and Maharashtra to have better futures.
The Foundation has led the way in Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) since its founding in 2009; the National Education Policy currently reflects this emphasis (NEP 2020). Known affectionately as Cosmo Gyan Vihar Kendra, the Foundational Literacy & Numeracy Centres emphasise activity-based learning that blends play, storytelling, art, and group activities to make learning fun, engaging, and successful. The method encourages young students’ originality, curiosity, and confidence while closely adhering to national educational goals.
The Balmitras, community-based, trained women educators who act as mentors and change agents, are at the centre of this program. They boost attendance, close the gap between home and school, and focus on holistic development, which includes everything from emotional health and hygiene awareness to academic advancement.
“Cosmo Foundation’s steadfast, long-term dedication to the children of rural Gujarat and Maharashtra serves as the eternal flame that lights up a nation’s future,” said Yamini Kumar Jaipuria, Managing Trustee, Cosmo Foundation & Full-time Director, Cosmo First. Although it takes consistent work, laying the groundwork for education has the most lasting and powerful effects. We are making deliberate investments in our country’s highly educated and competent human capital, guaranteeing that every child has access to high-quality education in a dignified manner. Our passionate commitment to each and every kid is this profound, life-changing investment.
The Foundation’s programs have assisted over 24,000 children throughout the years. Students’ reading fluency, comprehension, numeracy, and soft skills have all improved noticeably. No child is left behind thanks to more inclusive and engaging classrooms, according to principals and teachers.
The principal of Choranda Primary School in Vadodara, Girishbhai Prajapati, remarked, “Our students look forward to Cosmo Foundation’s sessions.” Learning is now meaningful and pleasurable. Stronger engagement and better learning results have resulted from the use of Balmitras and activity-based approaches. The good change in our classes is evident.
Cosmo Foundation offers value-building workshops and awareness-raising exercises in addition to academic instruction that foster empathy, self-control, and thankfulness, so forming competence and character. With targeted assistance for kids from a range of social and economic backgrounds, including immigrant and single-parent households, inclusivity is still crucial.
The Cosmo Foundation feels that supporting a child’s foundation is an investment in the future and advancement of the country as India moves closer to realising the goal of Viksit Bharat. This Children’s Day, the Cosmo Foundation honours the potential of every child and reaffirms its commitment to laying solid foundations for better futures.
