In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which started on 13 Oct, Equitas Small Finance Bank has partnered with Sringeri Sharada Equitas Cancer & Multi-Speciality Hospital to release the impactful new film, “Making Cancer Care Accessible”. This effort is part of the Equitas Healthcare Foundation.
The film highlights the critical need for easily accessible and reasonably priced treatment by following the emotional journey of a woman from a marginalised community who bravely fights breast cancer. It embodies Equitas’ fundamental tenet of “Beyond Banking”, which is an uncompromising dedication to meeting pressing social needs outside the purview of financial services.
Equitas demonstrates its commitment to providing dignity and hope to cancer patients and their families through this programme. The hospital guarantees that no one is refused care because of financial limitations by taking government medical programmes like the Kalaingar Kaappittu Thittam. The movie also emphasises how crucial early cancer screening is, how it may save lives, and why everyone should make it a priority.
One in nine Indians is at risk of developing cancer, with breast cancer being the most prevalent type among women, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research–National Cancer Registry Programme. By the end of 2025, it is predicted that the number of cancer cases will have increased by 25–30%, and the two main preventable causes of death are delayed diagnosis and limited financial resources.
This movie serves as a reminder that, even though cancer is a serious illness, everyone should have access to care; it should never be a privilege.
“Our journey has always been about going beyond banking to create real impact,” stated Vignesh Murali, Chief Marketing Officer at Equitas SFB, in response to the campaign. Sringeri Sharada Equitas Hospital is a representation of that goal, wherein those from disadvantaged circumstances receive not only treatment but also a fighting chance at life through affordable cancer care. We are reminded by stories like our beneficiary’s that we are more than simply a bank; we are a force that strives to improve every life we come into contact with by bringing dignity, healing, and opportunity.
