The corporate social responsibility (CSR) committee’s proposal to give the DGP’s office Rs 1.38 crore to help the state’s “Anti-Chitta Campaign” was approved by the HP General Industries Corporation Limited board of directors recently. Twelve vehicles—four Scorpios and eight Boleros—will be purchased with this cash in order to promote the campaign throughout the state.
The 236th board of directors meeting was chaired by Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan on Wednesday. Additionally, a Rs 17.65 lakh CSR contribution was authorised for the construction of a new building for the government primary school at Suniyadi of Shillai in the Sirmaur district.
The corporation’s draft balance sheet for the fiscal year 2024–2025 was also approved by the board. Chauhan emphasised that despite fierce competition from private companies and working with a small workforce, the company managed to earn a respectable profit of Rs 13.37 crore. He gave the company instructions to use its profits to modernise and upgrade its current manufacturing facilities. In order to modernise HPGIC’s current furniture factories and enable the company to satisfy the increasing demand for contemporary and modular furniture from both public and private sector clients throughout the state, the board approved a tender for the procurement of new equipment and machinery.
