Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), the top fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business in India, has invested Rs. 32.93 crore in CSR projects in 109 aspirational districts during the fiscal year 2024–2025, marking a major step towards equitable growth.
During FY 2023–2024, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) invested Rs. 30.96 crore in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in aspirational districts, affecting communities in 101 of the 112 districts that NITI Aayog recognised as part of its Aspirational Districts Program.
According to HUL’s most recent Integrated Annual Report, these districts—which NITI Aayog designated as priority regions for fast development—received targeted investments meant to address important socioeconomic issues.
It should be mentioned that Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) exceeded its statutory requirement of 2% of the average net profit of Rs. 250.12 crore as required by Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, by allocating and spending roughly Rs. 254 crore on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the fiscal year 2024–25.
HUL’s dedication to the government’s Aspirational Districts Programme, which aims to enhance indicators in health, education, agriculture, and financial inclusion in 112 underprivileged districts, is demonstrated by the expenditure. Millions of beneficiaries from vulnerable groups, including women, children, small farmers, and marginalised communities, were impacted by HUL’s activities, which included water and waste management, livelihood enhancement, nutrition, health, and skill-building initiatives.
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) demonstrated its increasing dedication to inclusive and equitable development by increasing its CSR investment across aspirational districts by 6.36% from FY 2023-24 to FY 2024-25, increasing its coverage from 101 to 109 districts.
