Leading second-generation IIT Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) is pleased to announce that renowned American philanthropists Satish and Kamlesh Agarwal have generously donated more than USD 86,000 (Rs. 75 Lakh). The “Satish and Kamlesh Agrawal Charitable Fund, Houston, Texas, USA” is intended to be established with this kind donation.
In order to support a variety of developmental activities at IIT Mandi, such as student scholarships, faculty/student travel awards, infrastructure development, smart classrooms, research and innovation projects, etc., this gift is intended to act as a sustainable endowment.
Because the charitable fund will operate as a master account, only the interest income (up to 90%) will be used annually for the authorised purposes; the principal corpus (amount) will be retained to guarantee long-term financial sustainability. This is the initiative’s most alluring feature.
A Committee for Execution (CE) made up of faculty members from IIT Mandi will oversee the distribution of funds, the selection of projects, and reinvestment.
IIT Mandi Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera expressed his sincere gratitude to Satish and Kamlesh Agrawal for their vision and generosity in promoting innovation and higher education.
“The IIT Roorkee Foundation (IITRF), USA, facilitated the collaboration,” he continued. We at IIT Mandi would like to thank the Board of Directors (BOD) of the IIT Roorkee Foundation for their dedicated efforts in ensuring that IIT Mandi and other beneficiary organisations in India receive 100% of all donations made by contributors. The Board of Directors of IITRF covers all of the foundation’s costs out of their own money. IIT Mandi sincerely appreciates their thoughtful advice and ongoing assistance in advancing charitable partnerships.
“We are extremely grateful to Satish and Kamlesh Agrawal for their kind and inspiring contribution,” stated Prof. Varun Dutt, Dean of Resource Generation & Alumni Relations (DORA), IIT Mandi. For many years to come, this Charitable Fund will serve as a model of sustainable generosity to promote academic excellence, research, and innovation at IIT Mandi.
“This contribution is dedicated to promoting education, research, and community welfare through IIT Mandi,” said Satish Agrawal, who shared his ideas. It demonstrates our conviction that knowledge and creativity can have a long-lasting social impact.
For their generosity and dedication to furthering the causes of education, research, and social development, Satish Agarwal and Kamlesh Agrawal are much appreciated by the DORA Office at IIT Mandi.
