Ingersoll Rand, the Sanand Industries Association (SIA) and the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) have joined hands to develop a 12,000-square-metre Eco Park in Sanand, Gujarat, to promote environmental sustainability and community well-being in the industrial area.
The stone-laying ceremony for the proposed park was held on October 19 as part of Ingersoll Rand’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. The ceremony was inaugurated by Vicente Reynal, Chairman, President and CEO of Ingersoll Rand, and Sunil Khanduja, Chairman of Ingersoll Rand India Limited, in the presence of industry representatives.
The project aims to bring more green spaces into Sanand, one of Gujarat’s major industrial and manufacturing hubs, while encouraging a balance between economic growth and environmental protection.

Green Spaces for a Sustainable Industrial Hub
The proposed Sanand Eco Park will feature native plantations, thematic gardens, water-conservation systems and recreational facilities. These features are intended to support biodiversity, encourage responsible water use and provide a shared green space for industrial workers and the surrounding community.
The use of native plants is expected to help the park suit local climatic conditions and support the area’s ecological balance. Water-conservation systems will also form part of the park’s sustainable design.Ajit Shah, President of the Sanand Industries Association, highlighted the importance of balanced industrial development.
“Sanand has grown into one of Gujarat’s most vibrant industrial hubs. SIA continues to focus on balanced development—combining infrastructure, welfare, and environmental initiatives,” Shah said. “The Eco Park is a step toward creating harmony between industry and nature.”
Industry Partners Join Hands for Community Welfare
The project reflects a collaborative approach to CSR, bringing together a private company, an industry association and a public-sector industrial development agency to support shared environmental goals.Chetan Thakkar, Chairman of the SIA CSR Committee, said the initiative would help improve community life and encourage sustainable practices across industrial clusters.
“Our CSR Committee channels the collective strength of industries toward meaningful change,” he said. “Projects like the Eco Park enhance community life, promote green practices, and inspire sustainable models across industrial clusters.”
The initiative also highlights the growing role of CSR in connecting environmental protection with public well-being. Green spaces can offer opportunities for recreation, environmental awareness and stronger community engagement.
While the project’s financial outlay and completion timeline have not been announced, its planned features reflect a commitment to making industrial areas greener and more liveable. Long-term maintenance and stakeholder participation will be important to achieving these goals.
Through this partnership, Ingersoll Rand, SIA and GIDC aim to support a development model that combines industrial progress with environmental responsibility.
