The Bengal Chambers of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) has given Jindal Steel an award for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in the areas of women’s development, community development, and health. On December 19, 2025, Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, former secretary of the Indian government and former director general and CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs; Jitendra Kumar, chairperson of the National CSR & Corporate Governance Committee, BCC&I, and president of legal and corporate affairs; and Dr Ravindra Chamaria, chairman of Infinity Group, presented the award at a lavish ceremony in Kolkata. The esteemed award honoured Kishori Express, Jindal Steel’s premier CSR programme, for its exceptional work in advancing the comprehensive development of healthcare for teenage girls.
This honour from the Bengal Chambers of Commerce & Industry highlights the profound and long-lasting social impact that Jindal Steel has had throughout its operational regions in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand through its social arm, the Jindal Foundation. Millions of lives have been impacted and changed by its actions. By tackling health, education, livelihoods, water security, and women’s empowerment in an integrated and sustainable way, the Foundation has improved community well-being through a holistic development strategy.
Shallu Jindal, the chairperson of the Jindal Foundation, expressed gratitude for the prize, saying, “This recognition reaffirms our belief that meaningful development must be holistic and people-centric.” Working at the nexus of livelihoods, health, education, the environment, and social equity, we at Jindal Foundation make sure that advancement is inclusive and long-lasting. Our dedication to empowering teenage girls by addressing their health, dignity, and future potential is shown in programmes like Kishori Express. Communities are better able to forge their own course for development and well-being when they are strengthened from within.
“The BCC&I recognition for Kishori Express reflects Jindal Foundation’s commitment to holistic and inclusive development,” said Prashant Hota, President of Jindal Steel and Group Head (CSR & Education). We want to have a lasting, community-led impact by combining healthcare, education, and adolescent girls’ empowerment. Our CSR efforts, which are in line with all 17 UN SDGs, keep fostering resilient communities and bringing about significant societal change.
The Foundation’s comprehensive approach to healthcare and community development is demonstrated by the award-winning Kishori Express initiative, which focuses on adolescent girls through preventative healthcare, awareness, counselling, and access to necessary resources. The Foundation’s programmes continue to bring about quantifiable and long-lasting change in various locations, supported by interventions in education, livelihood enhancement, environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment, and cultural preservation.
