LG India established its CSR Foundation in Visakhapatnam as a major step towards a sustained relationship with the area. According to corporate officials, the plan was conceived after discussions with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu last year. The Chief Minister then asked the company’s management to contribute to the city’s overall growth and increase the scope of its relief efforts for the families impacted by the May 2020 styrene monomer gas leak. An RO water facility was opened at RR Venkatapuram in the Visakhapatnam West constituency as part of the project’s initial phase.
Additionally, LG has pledged to carry out skill-development and healthcare initiatives in the area. Speaking at the event, M Sribharat, the MP for Visakhapatnam, emphasised the need for targeted CSR interventions, emphasising the development of skills relevant to employment, bolstering public health infrastructure, creating a scholarship fund for higher education, and making sure LG’s land in the city is used to its full potential.
LG officials emphasised the company’s dedication to Andhra Pradesh while recalling the recent groundbreaking event of its third production site in Sri City, following those in Noida and Pune. Lim Sang Woo, the deputy chief of mission, Chang Nyun Kim, the consul general (Chennai), Ko Yun-Jun, CSSO, LG Petrochem, Suresh Chukkapalli, the honorary consul general, and Girija Shankar, chairman, LG India CSR, City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi, and PGVR Naidu (Ganababu), among others, attended the foundation’s launch in Visakhapatnam.
