A new physical library was opened today at the Reserve Police Line, Chandpole, Jaipur, by Mahindra World City Jaipur Ltd. (also known as “MWC Jaipur”), a joint venture between Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited (MLDL) and Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO). In front of Sachin Mittal, the Jaipur Police Commissioner, and Shri Amit Sinha, the Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited, the facility was dedicated to the people of Jaipur by Shri Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary – Energy.
The library supports preparation for numerous competitive and government tests, which is in line with the Rajasthan government’s larger efforts to develop digital learning, increase educational infrastructure, and improve young employability. The phygital library, which combines digital and physical learning resources, was created as part of Mahindra World City Jaipur’s CSR programme. It will primarily benefit police officers and their families, but it will also be accessible to the general public. Over time, it is anticipated to help more than 5,000 citizens and will contain books on a variety of topics, such as science, maths, literature, the arts, competitive exams, skill development, and fiction and non-fiction. Additionally, the facility is connected to the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), which was created by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur as part of the Ministry of Education’s project. Students, instructors, researchers, and lifelong learners can all access high-quality educational information thanks to NDLI’s millions of digital resources, which include books, journals, articles, theses, films, and simulations in a variety of subject areas.
According to Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary, Energy, Government of Rajasthan, “This project is a prime example of how public-private cooperation can propel social advancement. It fortifies the basis of inclusive development by providing police officers, their families, and the general public with access to educational materials.
“This thoughtful initiative is greatly appreciated,” stated Sachin Mittal, the Commissioner of Police for Jaipur. Police officers and their families will be able to study, learn, and develop personally in the library.
Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited’s managing director and CEO, Amit Kumar Sinha, stated, “We applaud the Government of Rajasthan’s ongoing emphasis on educational access. This partnership with Jaipur Police demonstrates our mutual dedication to empowering people and fostering inclusive, sustainable communities.
The library is a component of Mahindra World City’s (Jaipur) continuous corporate social responsibility programmes that emphasise skill development, health, education, and the environment. Among the noteworthy programmes is Hunnar, which, since FY 2009–10, has empowered 3,294 youngsters through 13 vocational courses, increasing livelihoods, particularly among women, through training in tailoring, beauty and wellness, and other useful skills.
In order to encourage sustainable water management in the surrounding areas, MWC Jaipur has also teamed up with Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS) on a Water Conservation and Retention initiative. In order to save more than 44 crore litres of water a year, the project includes rainwater collection, the building of 16 farm ponds, and the installation of 11 water tanks spread throughout 10 villages. By irrigating parched terrain and establishing agriculture on fallow land where crop development has historically been difficult, this stored rainwater improves agricultural productivity and promotes environmental preservation. Other projects include Mahindra Hariyali, which supports sustainability by planting around 55,000 trees in government-approved forests and rural regions, and Green Guardians, which encourages energy saving by installing LEDs in more than 7,000 rural households.
