Maruti Suzuki India Limited is expanding its Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) initiative in Gurugram, with plans to install 1,000 additional cameras integrated with radar systems at approximately 70 junctions across nine road stretches covering 65 km.
According to the company’s announcement, the expansion will take the total deployment to 1,400 cameras across 93 junctions and 13 key road stretches. The initiative aims to strengthen traffic monitoring, improve compliance with traffic regulations and encourage safer driving practices.
The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Gurugram Police as part of Maruti Suzuki’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
Traffic Violations Under Surveillance
The expanded system is designed to help authorities monitor violations such as riding without helmets, triple riding, red-light violations, over-speeding and wrong-side driving.

The initiative is intended to support more effective traffic enforcement and improve road discipline through technology-based monitoring. The company’s announcement also highlights the importance of responsible driving alongside surveillance and enforcement measures.
Integration With GMDA’s Control Centre
As part of the expansion, the CCTV network will be connected to GMDA’s Integrated Command and Control Centre. This integration is expected to improve real-time traffic surveillance, strengthen coordination between enforcement agencies and help authorities respond more quickly to traffic violations.

The expansion builds on the first phase of the ITMS initiative in Gurugram. Its impact will depend on the effective use of the monitoring network and consistent enforcement of traffic rules.
Maruti Suzuki has described the project as part of its broader road-safety efforts, which also emphasise responsible driving, effective enforcement and improvements in driving licence testing.
