In order to teach 600 individuals cutting-edge electronics and IT-ITeS capabilities, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Redington Foundation opened a new Skill India Centre (SIC) in Baraut. A significant step towards extending last-mile skilling access for rural youth and women in Uttar Pradesh was taken when Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw opened the centre at Ch. Kehar Singh Divya Public School in front of Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary.
To increase local access, a spoke centre in Chhaprauli will complement the Baraut centre, which will act as the training hub. The courses, which focus on the rapidly expanding electronics and IT-ITeS industries, are a reflection of both the national need for a workforce with digital skills and the region’s need for qualified workers.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasised the importance of developing a workforce that is in line with new industrial expectations during the centre’s opening. “The government’s goal of developing a workforce with the necessary technological skills to support India’s growing digital and electronics ecosystem is strengthened by this initiative in Baraut,” he said. Aspirations are unlocked, local possibilities are increased, and social transformation is accelerated when high-quality skilling reaches rural communities. The NSDC and Redington Foundation cooperation is a potent illustration of how business and government can work together to develop training ecosystems that have a significant impact and are prepared for the future.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary stressed the transforming importance of skills in nation-building in his speech to the audience. “The opening of the Skill India Centre in Baraut today demonstrates the government’s dedication to bringing opportunities to all young people, particularly in underserved and rural areas,” he remarked. For young people in the area, the Centre would serve as a gateway to new opportunities. Employment is only one aspect of skilling; other aspects include confidence, mobility, and dignity. We are paving the way for regional talent to flourish in cutting-edge fields and make a significant contribution to India’s development narrative in collaboration with business partners like Redington Foundation.
“The Redington Foundation, in collaboration with NSDC, reaffirms its commitment to Unlock Impact by providing future-ready, job-orientated skills to rural and underprivileged youth throughout Baghpat with the establishment of the Skill India Centre. With courses focused on cutting-edge electronics and IT fields, this centre will be a significant learning hub that boosts employability, increases earning potential, and develops a highly qualified workforce in line with India’s aspirations for technology-driven prosperity. This program is a significant step in helping rural Indian communities and speeding up the adoption of digital technology. Redington Ltd’s Global Chief Sustainability Officer is R. Venkatesh.
Both ministers engaged with trainees, toured the training facilities, and urged young people to adopt cutting-edge skills that promote long-term employability while they were there.
The results of the continued cooperation are already apparent. Seventy-two Baghpat candidates who received training through the Redington Foundation’s CSR programme in collaboration with NSDC have been hired by reputable companies.
