According to various media reports, Oliver Blume, the CEO of German automaker Volkswagen, stated that the European company is considering India as a possible market for its low-cost small electric car segment and is currently working with partners on how to introduce them in the country. At the IAA Mobility show in Munich on September 7, the business made its first public appearance with a family of compact, all-electric cars. The Volkswagen official also told the news agency that the company finds the Indian market “more attractive” now that the country has lowered its GST rates.
Volkswagen (VW) Group displayed vehicles such as the Volkswagen ID. CROSS Concept, the Epiq SUV from the company’s Skoda brand, and other related models such as the Volkswagen ID. Polo and CUPRA Raval, the agency report stated. Chinese automakers are fiercely competing with Volkswagen, and the European market is not very demanding. The company’s Audi and Porsche brands have also suffered from trade concerns brought on by the Trump tariffs. Oliver Blume, the CEO of Volkswagen, stated that the recent reductions in goods and services taxes (GST) in the Indian economy would be advantageous to both businesses and individuals.
When taxes are reduced, this is quite beneficial. The media reports state that Blume said, “We are a company that stands for free and fair world trade.” According to him, “having a tax policy that is appealing to automakers is appealing to the nation and its citizens as well.”
