Xiaomi India and the Yuvraj Singh Foundation (YouWeCan) announced that Phase 1 of the Swasth Mahila Swasth Bharat (SMSB) campaign, a groundbreaking breast cancer screening programme that spans 15 aspirational districts in 15 Indian states, has successfully concluded. Over 4 lakh women were taught about breast health, early detection, and self-breast examination throughout the programme’s 1.5 lakh screenings over the previous year. Reiterating Xiaomi India’s longstanding dedication to early detection and better health access for women in underprivileged communities, Phase 2 of the Swasth Mahila Swasth Bharat initiative will expand to reach an additional 60,000 women in the same districts over the course of the next six months, building on this transformative impact.
Our goal with Swasth Mahila Swasth Bharat has been straightforward: to give more women access to timely support, information, and early screening. The results and anecdotes coming from the ground demonstrate the genuine impact this effort is having. Sudhin Mathur, Chief Operating Officer of Xiaomi India, stated, “We are grateful to the YouWeCan Foundation, led by Yuvraj Singh, for being an unwavering partner in helping us bring this change to more communities.”
Collaborations such as this are what translate awareness into action. More women in underprivileged communities will have access to early detection and prompt care thanks to Xiaomi India and the YouWeCan team spearheading the Swasth Mahila Swasth Bharat initiative. We are honoured to collaborate with Xiaomi India and truly value their efforts in making such a significant difference. Working with partners who agree with us that genuine change occurs when foundations and brands unite for the same goal is motivating,” said Yuvraj Singh, founder of the YouWeCan Foundation. Phase 2 of SMSB will broaden its reach within the same 15 aspirational districts, motivated by the response and the confidence communities have shown in the campaign. It will concentrate on three strategic pillars: enhancing referral pathways for prompt treatment, establishing routine re-screening protocols to identify new cases early, and scaling peer-led advocacy to embed breast health awareness in communities. In order to promote long-lasting behaviour change, the initiative will keep involving women, families, and local influencers. In order to ensure alignment between private and public initiatives for long-lasting impact, it also strengthens coordination with the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Stroke (NPCDCS).
When technology meets the most fundamental needs of people, it finds its greatest purpose. On the ground, Swasth Mahila Swasth Bharat’s first phase has already had a significant impact, reaching women in aspirational districts who frequently encounter obstacles to accessing preventative healthcare. The programme is empowering women to confidently prioritise their health by facilitating early testing and promptly linking verified instances with medical support. This is in line with Xiaomi’s concept of taking deliberate action to make a significant effect. We’ll increase awareness and make sure more women feel supported at every stage of their health journey with Phase 2. Because families become stronger and the nation advances when women are encouraged to take control of their health,” stated Varun Madan, Xiaomi India’s Chief People Officer and Head of Integrated Management.
SMSB is a prime example of how technology, community involvement, and strategic business alliances can improve health outcomes in India’s aspirational districts, providing women in these priority areas with life-saving care, dignity, and hope.
