Yashoda Medicity, Ghaziabad, has launched ‘Rep Se Rescue Tak – Train Hard. Respond Faster.’, a World Heart Day campaign aimed at making cardiac emergency preparedness an integral part of the fitness ecosystem across Delhi-NCR. The initiative brings together gyms, fitness professionals, cardiologists, emergency medicine specialists, paediatric cardiac experts and fitness influencers to address an often overlooked aspect of fitness, being prepared to respond when a medical emergency occurs during training.
The initiative comes against a backdrop of growing attention around sudden collapses and cardiac emergencies during or immediately after workouts in parts of India. In recent months, multiple incidents have been reported involving people experiencing heart attacks, cardiac arrests or chest discomfort while exercising, highlighting concerns around the readiness of fitness facilities to recognise warning signs and respond to medical emergencies. The concern has also entered the policy discourse, with Punjab issuing a dedicated advisory in 2025 on preventing sudden cardiac arrest among gym-goers and sportspersons, including recommendations around medical screening, safer training practices and emergency response.
Against this backdrop, Yashoda Medicity has built ‘Rep Se Rescue Tak’ around three interconnected pillars: expert-led cardiac and fitness awareness, structured trainer certification and hands-on emergency response training. The initiative brings together Dr. P.N. Arora, Chairman and Managing Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals; Dr. Sandeep Jain, Director and Head, Emergency Medicine and Trauma Care; Dr. Asit Khanna, Director, Interventional Cardiology; Dr. Manish Aggarwal, Director, Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart; Dr. Dhirendar Singhania, Director, Interventional Cardiology; Dr. Rachit Saxena, Director and Unit Head, Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery; and Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Senior Consultant, Pediatric Cardiology and CTVS; and Neeraj Pal, Fitness and Wellness Coach, bringing together leadership, clinical, emergency, paediatric cardiac and fitness expertise for the campaign.

Dr. P.N. Arora, Chairman & Managing Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals, said, “India’s fitness culture is evolving rapidly, but fitness must also include preparedness for situations that require immediate action. When a cardiac emergency occurs, the people closest to the individual are often the first link in the response chain. Through ‘Rep Se Rescue Tak’, we want to equip gyms, trainers and fitness professionals with the knowledge and confidence to act in those crucial first minutes. The Yashoda Certified Gym & Trainer Initiative is our effort to take cardiac preparedness from the hospital into the community and make it a practical part of the fitness ecosystem.”
More than 70+ fitness professionals across participating gyms have already completed the Yashoda Certified Gym & Trainer Initiative. The certification equips gym trainers and staff to respond to a suspected cardiac arrest, covering recognition of an unresponsive person, activation of professional medical assistance, initiation of CPR and understanding when an automated external defibrillator can be used. The training is reinforced through live CPR demonstrations and hands-on simulations, where participants practise assessing an unresponsive person, starting chest compressions and coordinating the response until professional help arrives.
With cardiac emergencies requiring immediate action, preparedness at the site of an incident can be critical to the outcome. Dr. Asit Khanna, Director, Interventional Cardiology, Yashoda Medicity, said, “A cardiac emergency can occur without much warning, and the ability to respond in the first few minutes can be critical. Fitness professionals are often closest to an individual when an emergency occurs, which makes their preparedness an important part of gym safety. Knowing how to recognise a suspected cardiac arrest, activate medical assistance and begin the right response can help bridge the crucial gap until professional medical care arrives. Building this readiness within fitness environments is an important step towards making exercise spaces safer and better prepared for cardiac emergencies.”
The campaign also extends beyond participating gyms through fitness and community influencers across Delhi-NCR, taking conversations around responsible exercise and heart health to wider audiences. The outreach is designed to bring cardiac safety into everyday fitness conversations and encourage greater awareness around exercising responsibly.
Through ‘Rep Se Rescue Tak, Train Hard. Respond Faster.’, Yashoda Medicity is strengthening its approach to cardiac care beyond the hospital setting. The initiative reflects the hospital’s long-term commitment to preventive health, early response and community preparedness, with the aim of building stronger health awareness and response capabilities across everyday community spaces and making cardiac safety a more integral part of the fitness ecosystem.
