Elitecon International Ltd has expanded its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts by launching an initiative focused on promoting smart and sustainable farming practices. The programme is being implemented in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s National Institute for Research on Commercial Agriculture (ICAR–NIRCA).
The initiative, titled “Empowering Farmers through Smart & Sustainable Agriculture,” aims to support farmers—particularly those engaged in tobacco cultivation—by introducing modern agricultural technologies and scientific methods. Through this effort, farmers are being trained in advanced practices such as sensor-based irrigation, automated fertigation systems, IoT-enabled monitoring, and drone-assisted crop management.
By integrating these technologies, the programme seeks to improve resource efficiency and farm productivity. Expected outcomes include significant reductions in water and energy usage, along with an increase in crop yields and farmer income.
ICAR–NIRCA is contributing technical expertise, research support, and field-level guidance to ensure effective implementation. The collaboration is designed to bridge the gap between agricultural research and real-world farming practices.
Overall, the initiative reflects a broader push toward climate-resilient agriculture, aiming to enhance sustainability while strengthening rural livelihoods through innovation and knowledge transfer.
