Hindustan Zinc has announced an ambitious expansion of its flagship skill development initiative, Zinc Kaushal, with a target to empower 10,000 young people by equipping them with industry-relevant skills and enhancing their employment prospects. The programme reflects the company’s continued commitment to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural youth while supporting India’s vision of a skilled and self-reliant workforce.
Since its launch in 2019, Zinc Kaushal has emerged as an important platform for bridging the gap between education and employment. Through a network of dedicated training centres across Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, the initiative provides vocational training in sectors that have strong employment demand. These include hospitality, retail, customer relationship management (CRM), security services, solar technology, electrical trades, microfinance, and other emerging skill areas that prepare candidates for modern workplaces.
The programme goes beyond classroom learning by combining technical training with personality development, communication skills, interview preparation, and workplace readiness. This holistic approach enables participants to become job-ready and improve their confidence before entering the workforce. The initiative has already trained thousands of rural youth, many of whom have secured employment with leading companies across diverse industries.
A major strength of Zinc Kaushal is its extensive placement support. Hindustan Zinc collaborates with hundreds of recruitment partners to connect trained candidates with suitable employment opportunities. Several graduates of the programme have built rewarding careers in hospitality, retail, security, manufacturing, and renewable energy sectors.

Nearly half of the beneficiaries are women, reflecting Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to promoting gender equality through skill development. Special efforts are made to encourage women, differently abled individuals, and youth from underserved communities to participate in training programmes and achieve financial independence. The company has also introduced specialised batches that create equal opportunities for women in non-traditional professions.
