The State Bank of India (SBI) has renovated and repaired a Government Primary School in the Pahoo area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district as part of its Pan-India Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The project aims to improve basic educational infrastructure and provide students with a more comfortable environment for learning.
The renovation work was undertaken to address infrastructure-related needs at the school and strengthen facilities for children and teachers. As part of the initiative, the school building was repaired and renovated, while classrooms were also furnished to improve the overall learning environment.
The initiative has received appreciation from teachers and local residents, who said better school infrastructure can play an important role in supporting education at the grassroots level. For primary school students, a clean, comfortable and welcoming classroom can help create a positive atmosphere for learning.

A teacher at the school said the renovation has brought a visible change to the institution.“The renovation has brought a positive change to the school. Better classrooms and improved facilities will help us provide students with a more comfortable environment for learning.”
Local residents also welcomed the initiative, describing it as a useful contribution to strengthening educational facilities in the area. They said government schools, particularly in rural communities, need continued attention to ensure students have access to basic infrastructure.
One local resident said the project would directly benefit children from the surrounding area.“The initiative deserves appreciation as it will directly benefit local students. Such efforts by institutions like SBI can make a real difference in improving educational infrastructure in rural areas.”
Another resident said CSR programmes should continue to focus on essential facilities in government schools, adding that improved infrastructure could help create a better environment for children to pursue their education.
The renovation of the Pahoo school forms part of SBI’s broader CSR efforts, which focus on community development and support for essential facilities. Through initiatives such as this, the bank is contributing to improvements in local educational infrastructure and supporting communities beyond its core banking operations.
