More than 180 corporate, government and philanthropic leaders came together at the West Bengal CSR Roundtable 2026, organised by CSRBOX in collaboration with the Government of West Bengal, to build stronger partnerships for social development across the state.
The high-level meeting, chaired by Dr. Swapan Dasgupta, Minister-in-Charge, Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, brought together CSR and sustainability heads, CPSEs, State PSUs, corporate foundations, philanthropic organisations and senior officials from more than 18 government departments.
The roundtable focused on how corporate expertise and CSR investments can support key development priorities in West Bengal. Discussions covered health and nutrition, education and skilling, youth employment, livelihoods, rural development, agriculture, women and child development, water and sanitation, and climate resilience.

A major outcome was the signing of more than 28 Letters of Intent (LoIs) with corporate organisations across areas such as health, education and environment. These agreements are expected to help turn identified development opportunities into structured and long-term projects.
Dr. Swapan Dasgupta urged the private sector to play a stronger role in the state’s development. “I would urge the private sector to come forward with a genuine sense of contributing to the State and its development,” he said, adding that he looked forward to a meaningful partnership between the government and private sector.
The initiative builds on an existing partnership between CSRBOX and the Finance Department through a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the CSR Projects Facilitation Unit (CPFU). The unit will help connect government departments with corporate and philanthropic partners, identify collaboration opportunities and provide technical support for improving the State CSR Portal.
According to CSRBOX, the initiative also aims to attract more CSR and philanthropic investment to eastern India, where social investments have historically been concentrated less than in major industrial regions.Shri Bhomik Shah, Founder & CEO, CSRBOX, said, “Through this Roundtable, we are strengthening the bridge between government priorities and corporate social investment, enabling more focused, collaborative and outcome-driven development across West Bengal.”
The roundtable is expected to create clearer pathways for government priorities, corporate commitments and social investment to translate into measurable, long-term action on the ground.
