Henkel India has inaugurated a Skill Development Centre at Navkshitij in Marunji, Pune, to support STEM education and vocational training for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The centre is part of the company’s CSR efforts focused on inclusion and skill development.
Who the centre is for
The centre will cater to individuals aged 10 years and above. Alongside STEM education, it focuses on practical and life skills, to help participants build confidence, improve independence and take part in productive activities.
Hands-on training

The centre is equipped with machinery and facilities for practical learning. Training activities include plate making, camphor making, incense stick making, laundry and ironing, and the preparation of diyas and pots using different moulds. The facility also has a solar installation.
Learning beyond the classroom
The program aims to meet the need for continued learning and skill development beyond traditional classroom education, supporting participants in taking a more active role in society. The company describes the centre as a platform that nurtures skills, confidence and self-reliance, and says it hopes participants will explore their abilities and find new opportunities.
A hall for community activities
A newly developed hall will also host cultural programs, creative activities, community gatherings and group engagement sessions. It is intended as an inclusive environment where participants can learn, collaborate, express themselves and build social connections.
The partnership
The centre brings together Henkel India’s CSR efforts and Navkshitij’s work to provide learning and skill-development opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The inauguration was attended by Henkel representatives, Navkshitij trustees, students and other beneficiaries.
