The Ashok Leyland Foundation has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to expand its social impact initiatives, setting a target of reaching one million students by 2029 while significantly increasing its annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) expenditure to ₹60 crore. The move marks a major step in the foundation’s efforts to strengthen education, skill development, and community welfare across India.
Established as the dedicated social impact arm of Ashok Leyland and the Hinduja Group, the foundation has been working to improve educational opportunities and livelihoods in underserved communities. Over the years, its programmes have focused on supporting children, youth, and rural populations through a range of interventions aimed at creating long-term and sustainable change.
The organisation currently impacts more than six lakh lives through various initiatives. Building on this foundation, it now plans to scale its operations substantially over the next few years. The increased annual CSR allocation will help the foundation expand its reach into new geographies while deepening its presence in existing project locations.
A significant portion of the enhanced investment will be directed toward educational programmes designed to improve learning outcomes and increase access to quality education. The foundation intends to strengthen school infrastructure, provide academic support, and create opportunities that enable students from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their educational goals with greater confidence.
In addition to school education, the foundation is placing strong emphasis on skill development and employability. Programmes aimed at equipping young people with industry-relevant skills are expected to play a key role in preparing them for future employment opportunities. New programmes are expected to be introduced in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Jammu & Kashmir, allowing the foundation to extend its impact to a larger population. The organisation aims to work closely with local communities, educational institutions, and development partners to ensure that interventions are tailored to regional requirements.
The increased CSR commitment reflects a growing focus on structured and measurable social impact.
