LinkedIn India has announced an expansion of its partnership with Mentor Together, a nonprofit organization dedicated to youth mentoring, to strengthen employability and AI-readiness among students in Karnataka. Through a grant of nearly ₹1.5 crore, the initiative aims to benefit 25,000 students across the state, helping them prepare for evolving career opportunities and the growing influence of artificial intelligence in the workplace.
The renewed collaboration builds on a seven-year relationship between LinkedIn India and Mentor Together. It also continues the organizations’ joint efforts with Karnataka’s Department of Collegiate and Technical Education. The partnership seeks to equip students with practical career guidance, mentorship, and digital skills that are increasingly important in today’s job market.
Over the past year, the program has already made a significant impact. More than 23,000 students from nine districts in Karnataka participated in mentoring and career development activities. The initiative facilitated over 8,000 hours of mentoring interactions, while 573 students received personalized one-on-one guidance through Mentor Together’s Mentor To Go platform. According to program data, 86 percent of students who completed the mentoring journey reported greater clarity and confidence regarding their future career paths.
The next phase of the initiative will introduce a structured three-tier model designed to address students’ varying needs and career stages.
The first level, Career and AI Awareness, will engage all 25,000 students through group mentoring sessions. These sessions will focus on helping students understand career planning fundamentals while also introducing them to AI concepts and their relevance in modern workplaces.
The second level, Foundational Career Mentoring, will support around 8,000 students through shorter mentoring cycles delivered via the Mentor To Go platform. Participants will receive guidance on career exploration, skill development, and the responsible use of AI tools for learning, planning, and professional growth.
The third level, Placement-Focused Mentoring, is designed specifically for 700 final-year students preparing to enter the workforce. This intensive program will combine expert mentor support, dedicated staff assistance, and AI-powered job search resources to help students improve their employment prospects and transition successfully into professional careers.
The initiative recognizes that students have different aspirations and challenges depending on where they are in their educational journey. By offering targeted support at multiple levels, the program aims to provide relevant guidance from early career exploration through to job placement preparation.
A key aspect of the expanded partnership is the integration of human mentorship with AI-enabled tools. Organizers believe this combination can help students develop essential skills, build confidence, and make informed career decisions in an employment landscape that is being rapidly transformed by technological advancements.
The continued collaboration reflects a broader commitment to improving youth employability through mentorship and digital learning. As AI reshapes industries and job roles, programs like this are expected to play an increasingly important role in preparing students for future careers while ensuring they have access to the knowledge, networks, and support needed to succeed.
