NMDC Bacheli has distributed school bags, shoes and socks to 181 students from six schools in Bhansi Gram Panchayat under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aimed at supporting the educational needs of children in nearby villages.
NMDC Bacheli has launched a community welfare programme to provide essential school items to children living around its operational area. The first phase of the initiative was held at Bhansi Gram Panchayat following a request to provide school bags, shoes and socks to students from 12 Gram Panchayats located near the NMDC Bacheli complex.

As part of the first phase, 181 students from six schools in Bhansi Gram Panchayat received school bags, shoes and socks. A total of 181 school bags and 181 pairs of shoes and socks were distributed among the students.
The schools covered under the programme include Government Netaji Primary School, Swami Atmanand Hindi Medium School, Primary School Bazarpara, New Primary School Masapara, Government Primary School Kummapara and Primary School Porokmeli.
The initiative was organised to help children meet their basic school requirements and support their education. The programme also aimed to strengthen NMDC’s engagement with local communities through its CSR activities.
Josey Thomas, DGM (HR) – CSR, NMDC Bacheli, and Saurabh Kumar, DGM (HR), NMDC Bacheli, attended the programme as representatives of the company.
The event was also attended by Arvind Kunjam, Zila Panchayat Upadhyaksh; Mr. Verma, Bhansi Station House Officer; Meera Bhaskar, Sarpanch, Bhansi; Ward Panch members; teachers; school representatives; parents and villagers.
Students and parents participated enthusiastically in the distribution programme. The initiative is expected to be extended to other Gram Panchayats around the NMDC Bacheli Complex in the coming phases.
The programme reflects NMDC’s focus on education and community development in areas surrounding its operations. NMDC Limited is India’s largest iron ore producer and a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.
