Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off a fleet of ambulances donated by HDFC Bank under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, marking a significant step toward strengthening emergency healthcare services across Himachal Pradesh. The initiative aims to improve access to timely medical assistance, particularly for people living in remote and difficult-to-reach areas of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that providing quality healthcare to every citizen remains one of the state government’s top priorities. He emphasized that residents of hilly and rural regions often face challenges in accessing emergency medical services due to geographical constraints. The newly donated ambulances are expected to bridge this gap by ensuring faster transportation of patients and improving the delivery of critical healthcare services.
Sukhu appreciated HDFC Bank’s contribution and described the initiative as a commendable example of corporate participation in social development. He noted that partnerships between the government and corporate institutions can play a vital role in strengthening public welfare services, especially in sectors such as healthcare, education, and disaster response. The Chief Minister added that CSR-driven projects complement government efforts and help extend essential services to communities that need them the most.
The ambulances have been equipped to provide emergency medical support and are expected to enhance the state’s emergency response capabilities. Their deployment will help ensure that patients receive timely medical attention during accidents, health emergencies, and natural disasters. Given Himachal Pradesh’s mountainous terrain, quick access to healthcare can often be a life-saving factor, making such services particularly important for rural populations.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the state government has been consistently working to upgrade healthcare infrastructure and improve medical facilities across Himachal Pradesh. Several initiatives have already been launched to strengthen hospitals, expand healthcare coverage, and improve emergency medical services. The addition of these ambulances is expected to further support those efforts and contribute to a more efficient healthcare network.
Sukhu also expressed confidence that corporate organizations would continue to participate in developmental initiatives through their CSR programmes. He encouraged more institutions to come forward and support projects that directly benefit the public, particularly in sectors that impact people’s quality of life. According to him, collective efforts by the government, private sector, and civil society are essential for achieving inclusive and sustainable development.
The event reflected the growing importance of corporate social responsibility in addressing public needs and strengthening community welfare. With the induction of these ambulances into the healthcare system, the state expects improved emergency response services and better healthcare accessibility for residents across various districts of Himachal Pradesh. The initiative is likely to make a meaningful contribution to the state’s ongoing efforts to deliver efficient and accessible healthcare to all sections of society.
