One of India’s top FMCG firms, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), has given the Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) four electric rubbish collection vans as part of its flagship community effort, Project SHINE. In front of Ujjain Mayor Shri Mukesh Tatwala and Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) Chairperson Kalavati Yadav, as well as community members and HCCB dignitaries, the vehicles were formally turned over to the UMC during an event in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
In addition to serving about 1200 houses in Ujjain, the EV garbage collection vehicles that have been deployed will increase the effectiveness of UMC’s door-to-door rubbish collection service in the villages of Tilkeshwar, Krishanpura, Avantika, and Municipal Corporation. HCCB keeps funding infrastructure for electric transportation and sustainable waste management through collaborations with regional administrations and governing bodies throughout India.
Through its CSR effort, HCCB confirms its commitment to empowering communities as part of Project SHINE. Implementing sustainable solutions for environmental protection and disaster management; advancing health and hygiene through WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programmes; fostering inclusive growth by empowering women and expanding livelihood opportunities; developing talent through education and skill development; and empowering communities to create a more resilient and brighter future are the five main thematic areas around which Project SHINE is based.
