The Jindal Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel, held a number of awareness and outreach events at various sites throughout the Angul region to commemorate World AIDS Day. Students from Savitri Jindal DAV High School, college and nursing students, members of the transgender community, and other stakeholders enthusiastically participated in rallies to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS.
Condom vending machines were positioned in high-risk areas, hoardings with important messages were erected, and community people were educated about HIV, its effects, and self-defence techniques in order to encourage preventive measures. Strong public involvement was attracted to a mega rally held in Angul town in partnership with the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Angul.
The Jindal Foundation’s Angul Unit has provided vital information on prevention, care, and assistance to 5.34 lakh people through its ICTC projects. Furthermore, 5.03 lakh people have benefited from voluntary HIV testing, which allows for early discovery and prompt treatment.
In collaboration with the Last Mile Care Organisation as part of Project Kavach, Jindal Steel’s Logistics Department will begin a week-long HIV Awareness Program at the truck parking area on December 3rd. The project will begin with a Nukkad Natak and awareness session for truck drivers, emphasising safe habits and addressing common misconceptions.
All year long, the Jindal Foundation remains dedicated to promoting community health. The Foundation’s persistent efforts to battle HIV/AIDS have been acknowledged and rewarded by the District Health Administration.
