In the Googal Kota hamlet in the Kothputli-Behror district of Rajasthan, United Breweries Limited (UBL), a division of the HEINEKEN Company, introduced its CSR programme, Jal Samridhi. The flagship project, which is being carried out in collaboration with the S M Sehgal Foundation (SMSF), is to promote biodiversity in this water-stressed area, strengthen groundwater recharge, and improve local water security.
Through de-silting, embankment strengthening, route building, and the installation of solar street lighting, UBL and SMSF have revitalised a community pond as part of the project. For long-term viability, the pond has now been officially turned over to the Gramme Panchayat. To promote local biodiversity, 1,000 native seedlings have also been planted.
Ravindra Yadav (UDC, Public Works Department), Shyam Sundar Yadav (Sarpanch, Googal Kota village), and other panchayat representatives and community members attended the inauguration event. They expressed gratitude for the teamwork in reviving a vital natural resource for the village.
“Project Jal Samridhi reflects our continued efforts towards strengthening water security and supporting long-term environmental sustainability in the communities we operate in,” stated Garima Singh, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. The restored pond will be essential to enhancing groundwater recharge and re-establishing the local ecology. This project serves as an example of how collaborations can produce significant and long-lasting effects.
