The Essar Foundation recently highlighted key issues around CSR and ESG governance at a major global forum—the 20th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility organized by the Institute of Directors, India. The event brought together policymakers, corporate leaders, ESG experts, and board members to discuss evolving sustainability and governance practices.
Dominic D’Souza, COO – CSR represented Essar Foundation in a panel on:
“Policy, Compliance & Next-Gen Regulation: Navigating an Evolving CSR and ESG Governance Landscape.” The panel included senior officials from government and regulatory bodies, reflecting a strong public–private dialogue on CSR frameworks. The discussion reflected a broader shift: CSR is no longer just compliance-driven—it is becoming a core strategic function tied to ESG, risk management, and long-term value creation.
He highlighted the importance of streamlining compliance and strengthening governance practices to enhance ease of doing business, improve climate governance, and manage emerging risks more effectively. He also emphasised the need for greater regulatory harmonisation across industries, stronger corporate–government collaboration to enable scalable and accountable CSR implementation, and robust disclosure and assurance frameworks supported by effective board oversight to ensure credible CSR and ESG reporting.
