The Delhi government has launched an ambitious initiative to convert neglected spaces beneath flyovers into clean, functional, and visually appealing public zones through collaborations with private companies under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
As part of this effort, the Public Works Department (PWD) has signed agreements with major organisations such as Dalmia Bharat Limited, Godrej Industries Group, and EaseMyTrip Foundation. These partnerships aim to redevelop unused and often poorly maintained under-flyover stretches across the city.
The project focuses on transforming these areas into vibrant urban spaces by introducing landscaped green zones, wall murals, seating arrangements, better sanitation facilities, and other civic amenities. Some locations may even feature thematic artwork, adding cultural value and making these spots more attractive to the public.
Different companies will take responsibility for specific flyovers, handling everything from design and beautification to maintenance for a fixed period. Key sites identified for redevelopment include stretches near Lodhi Flyover, Oberoi Flyover, and other prominent locations in the capital.
The initiative reflects a broader push by the government to improve Delhi’s urban landscape through public-private collaboration. By repurposing underutilised spaces, the project aims not only to enhance the city’s appearance but also to create community-friendly environments that encourage public use and social interaction.
Officials have described the move as a step towards building a cleaner, greener, and more modern Delhi, while also aligning with long-term development goals for the country.
