Omega Forum for Social Impact (OFSI), the CSR arm of Omega Healthcare, is expanding opportunities for young people through skill development and employment-focused programmes. So far, its skilling initiatives have trained 6,065 youth and supported 4,469 placements, helping graduates from underserved communities move towards financial independence.
A recent milestone was the 6th Graduation Ceremony and Skill Expo held at Hope Hall, Edamalaipatti Pudur, Tiruchirappalli. The event brought together 439 young graduates from six batches, along with their families, trainers and community partners. The ceremony recognized the successful completion of their training, while the Skill Expo allowed participants to showcase their technical, communication and workplace skills.
The Omega Centre of Hope was established in 2022 under Project 10K in partnership with Hope Foundation. The initiative aims to make skill training and livelihood opportunities accessible to young people, particularly first-generation earners and those from underserved communities.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Guruvayurappan P.V., Executive Vice President – Human Resources, Omega Healthcare, and Board Director, OFSI, said: “Having spent my career working with people, I believe potential is everywhere, but opportunity must reach people where they are. The real value of skilling lies in seeing that potential translate into jobs, income and greater independence.”
The Centre initially offered four courses—Tally, DTP, Computer Applications and Data Entry. It has now expanded to eight trades, covering areas linked to employment in retail, hospitality, healthcare services, IT and IT-enabled services. Students also receive training in spoken English, soft skills, workplace readiness and career preparation.
The programmes focus on inclusion and reach groups that may face barriers to formal education and employment, including school dropouts, LGBTQ+ individuals and people living with HIV.
The initiative is supported by partners including the District Employment Office, Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation and National Skill Development Corporation. Through these collaborations, OFSI aims to strengthen the link between training and employment, helping young people build sustainable livelihoods.
