UP government plans to use AI to make welfare schemes more transparent and efficient.The Social Welfare Department is working to strengthen the monitoring of schemes such as old-age pensions, family benefits, scholarships and mass marriage assistance through technology.

The proposed AI-based monitoring system will help verify beneficiary data, identify eligible applicants and detect fraudulent applications. According to Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun, AI can improve accuracy in data verification, beneficiary identification and scheme implementation, ensuring that government benefits reach genuine beneficiaries without unnecessary delays.

The department has already introduced stronger online monitoring for schemes including scholarships, the National Family Benefit Scheme and old-age pensions. Under the scholarship programme, students will no longer need to register repeatedly, as a one-time registration number has been introduced. This is expected to save time and ensure uninterrupted access to benefits.

AI-powered data analysis will also help identify suspicious or fraudulent submissions and speed up the processing of applications. The government aims to move towards a paperless system, reducing paperwork and making administrative processes quicker and more efficient.

The initiative is expected to improve data management, beneficiary verification and scheme monitoring while simplifying procedures. The government believes that greater use of technology will not only improve welfare delivery but also strengthen transparency and public trust.
