Cargo Matters Founder and Chairman Umesh Padala has announced a ₹2 crore corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment to support the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Andhra Pradesh. The initiative is aimed at accelerating clean mobility adoption in the state while strengthening access to reliable charging facilities in urban and semi-urban regions. The announcement reflects the company’s broader focus on sustainable transportation and green logistics development in India.
According to reports, the CSR fund will be used to sponsor the installation of EV charging stations at strategic locations across Andhra Pradesh. The effort is expected to improve charging accessibility for both passenger electric vehicles and commercial transport fleets, helping reduce dependence on fossil fuels and encouraging wider EV adoption. The project also aligns with the Andhra Pradesh government’s push to position the state as a major hub for electric mobility and clean energy infrastructure.
The announcement comes at a time when India is witnessing rapid growth in electric mobility investments. Government programmes such as PM E-Drive and FAME-II are promoting EV infrastructure expansion nationwide, while private companies are increasingly investing in charging networks and battery ecosystems. Andhra Pradesh has emerged as one of the states actively encouraging EV manufacturing and charging infrastructure through policy incentives and industrial partnerships.
Cargo Matters has already been expanding its presence in the sustainable logistics sector through large-scale green freight initiatives. Earlier this year, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish an integrated EV manufacturing and charging hub in Madanapalle with a planned investment of ₹100 crore. The facility is expected to support heavy commercial vehicle electrification, charger manufacturing, retrofitting services, and research and development activities focused on green freight mobility.
In addition, the company recently announced a ₹66 crore investment to deploy more than 550 high-speed EV charging stations across South India in partnership with TRYK Charge Services LLP. The planned network includes smart grid-enabled and solar-integrated charging stations spread across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The infrastructure is intended to support both freight transport and passenger EV mobility, especially along important commercial corridors.
Speaking about the initiative, Umesh Padala highlighted the urgent need for dependable charging infrastructure to support India’s transition toward electric mobility. He stated that the lack of widespread charging access remains one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption, particularly in the logistics and freight sectors. The company believes that investments in charging infrastructure can help reduce operational costs for transport operators while contributing to lower emissions and cleaner urban environments.
Industry experts believe such CSR-led initiatives can play an important role in supplementing government efforts to create a nationwide EV ecosystem. Improved charging infrastructure is considered essential for increasing consumer confidence, supporting commercial EV fleets, and enabling long-distance electric transport operations. Andhra Pradesh’s growing focus on green mobility projects could also attract additional investments in renewable energy, battery manufacturing, and clean transportation technologies in the coming years.
