Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday released the August 2026 instalment of social security pensions being provided under various schemes of the Social Welfare Department. The pension amount was transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries through a one-click payment from the CM’s camp office.
A total of Rs 147.05 crore was transferred to 9,91,914 beneficiaries under different social security schemes. In addition, pensions were approved for 5,605 new beneficiaries belonging to various categories during the month.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dhami said ensuring social security for weaker, needy and deprived sections of society remains the state government’s top priority. He emphasised that every eligible person should be able to access the benefits of social security schemes through a simple and time-bound process.
The Chief Minister directed officials to address difficulties faced during implementation with sensitivity and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is excluded from the schemes. He also instructed officials to identify people who are unable to obtain Aadhaar for valid reasons and make arrangements for account-based payments so that such beneficiaries do not lose access to their pension benefits.
According to the presentation made during the programme, Rs 147.05 crore was allocated in August 2026 for 9,91,914 beneficiaries covered under old-age, widow, disability, farmer, destitute, maintenance grant, Teelu Rauteli and dwarf pension schemes.
Of the total beneficiaries, 2,14,711 are covered under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), while 7,77,203 receive benefits under state-level schemes. The August pension disbursement included around Rs 140.11 crore as the state government’s share and Rs 6.94 crore as the Centre’s share.
Among the 5,605 newly sanctioned pensions, 3,945 were approved under the old-age category, 1,000 under widow pension, 416 under disability pension, 106 for farmers, 23 for destitute beneficiaries and 115 under the maintenance grant scheme.
The Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for upcoming programmes, including the two-day National Departmental Summit proposed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The summit is scheduled to be held on September 18 and 19 at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in Janpath, New Delhi.
The summit will provide a platform for the Centre, states and Union Territories to discuss and exchange views on important priorities concerning social justice and empowerment.
Social Welfare Minister Khajan Das, Social Welfare Secretary Dr Sridhar Babu Addanki, Additional Secretary Vikram Yadav, Joint Secretary Dhirendra Singh, Joint Director Geetaram Nautiyal, Assistant Director Hemlata Pandey and other officials were present on the occasion.
