InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGoReach hosted a 2.8-km heritage walk in Mysuru, taking participants through historic sites, cultural spaces and traditional art forms to celebrate the city’s rich heritage.
InterGlobe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of InterGlobe Enterprises, and IndiGoReach, the CSR arm of IndiGo, organised a heritage walk in Mysuru, Karnataka, as part of their ongoing ‘My City My Heritage’ campaign. The initiative aims to encourage citizens to reconnect with the history, culture and traditions of their cities.
Themed ‘Markets, Museums and Mysuru’, the walk was organised in collaboration with Sahapedia and India Foundation for the Arts (IFA). The 2.8-km walk covered nine historic locations across Mysuru’s civic and commercial centre, including Jaganmohan Palace, Lansdowne Building, Devaraja Market, K.R. Circle, Cauvery Emporium, Makkaji Chowk, Sri Subramanyeshwara Temple and Town Hall.
Led by Aishwarya Kirit and facilitated by Raghuram SK, the walk explored Mysuru beyond its well-known palaces. Participants learned about the city’s civic, commercial and cultural history through archival material from the Star of Mysore, including newspaper reports, photographs, letters and reader opinions.
The programme also highlighted the city’s intangible cultural heritage at the historic Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion. A traditional string puppetry performance by S.N. Srikanta, a fifth-generation puppeteer, showcased Karnataka’s storytelling traditions and craftsmanship.
Speaking on the occasion, Rohini Bhatia, Chairperson, InterGlobe Foundation, said, “India’s history is a living legacy, and through the ‘My City My Heritage’ campaign, we are committed to promoting the unique cultural identity of our cities.”
Willie Walsh, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said the campaign aims to create experiences that encourage people to rediscover the cultural narratives of Indian cities. He added that IndiGo’s commitment goes beyond connecting destinations to enriching the communities where it operates.
Mysuru became the 13th city to host the ‘My City My Heritage’ walk, following initiatives in cities including Prayagraj, Bhubaneswar, Shillong, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Puducherry and Gwalior.
The campaign seeks to promote both tangible and intangible heritage while encouraging communities to take greater pride in and responsibility for their cultural legacy.
