The State Bank of India (SBI) donated a Mahindra Bolero Camper to Duzin Photang School (DPS), Upti Zanskar, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The donation aims to strengthen the school’s transport and operational capabilities, supporting educational and community activities in the remote region.
The vehicle was formally handed over to Prof. Rajesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor of CIBS Choglamsar, by Amaresh Kumar Jha, Chief General Manager, SBI Chandigarh Circle. The ceremony was attended by senior SBI officials, faculty members, students and staff of the institute.
Among those present were Jayant Mani, Deputy General Manager (Business and Operations), J&K Zone; Ravinder Singh, Regional Manager; and Kunzang Chorol, Chief Manager of the SBI Choglamsar branch.
The donated Mahindra Bolero Camper is expected to support the transportation of educational materials, equipment, supplies and other essential resources. This assistance is particularly important in Zanskar, where difficult terrain and remote locations can create challenges for transportation and access to services.
The vehicle will help the school carry out educational, administrative and community-related activities more efficiently. It is also expected to support the institute’s efforts to serve students and strengthen its engagement with local communities.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Rajesh Ranjan expressed his appreciation to SBI for supporting the institute’s students. He also hoped for continued cooperation from organisations and stakeholders in preserving and promoting Buddhist culture and traditions, while advancing the Nalanda tradition of ancient Indian Buddhist learning.
SBI officials and branch representatives assured their continued goodwill and expressed hope of developing a closer relationship with the institute in the future.
The donation reflects SBI’s focus on community development, education and social welfare, particularly in remote and underserved areas. Through its CSR initiatives, the bank seeks to contribute to the socio-economic development of communities and improve access to essential resources.
