Lupin Earns Spot on Global Sustainability Rankings

Indian pharmaceutical company Lupin has secured a place in the prestigious TIME and Statista World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026 rankings, marking its first appearance on the global list. The recognition highlights the company’s growing commitment to environmental responsibility, ethical governance, and sustainable business practices.

Lupin has been ranked 318th among 750 companies selected from a pool of more than 5,000 of the world’s largest and most influential organizations. The annual assessment, prepared jointly by TIME magazine and global market research firm Statista, evaluates companies on a wide range of sustainability parameters, including environmental performance, corporate governance, transparency, social responsibility, and long-term sustainability commitments.

The company is also among only 16 Indian firms featured in this year’s global rankings, underlining India’s increasing presence in the international sustainability landscape.

Commenting on the achievement, Ramesh Swaminathan, Executive Director, Global Chief Financial Officer, Head of IT, and API Plus Strategic Business Unit at Lupin, said the recognition reflects the company’s consistent efforts to integrate sustainability into every aspect of its business. He noted that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles remain central to Lupin’s long-term growth strategy and corporate purpose.

According to Swaminathan, the company will continue to accelerate its climate transition initiatives by expanding renewable energy adoption, strengthening governance frameworks, enhancing transparency, and embedding ESG practices across its global operations. These efforts, he said, are aimed at creating sustainable value for patients, employees, communities, investors, and other stakeholders.

Lupin’s inclusion in the prestigious ranking builds on its strong ESG credentials established over the past several years. The pharmaceutical major has earned the highest ‘A’ leadership rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for both Climate Change and Water Security, demonstrating its commitment to managing environmental risks effectively. Additionally, the company received an impressive score of 91 in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, reflecting its strong performance across multiple sustainability indicators.

The recognition also acknowledges Lupin’s broader efforts to incorporate sustainability into its manufacturing processes, business operations, and corporate decision-making. The company has been working to reduce its environmental footprint while promoting responsible governance and creating positive social impact through its healthcare initiatives and community engagement programmes.

As sustainability becomes an increasingly important factor for investors, regulators, and consumers, global rankings such as the TIME and Statista list serve as a benchmark for companies demonstrating measurable progress in ESG performance. Lupin’s debut on the list reinforces its position among leading global pharmaceutical companies that are aligning business growth with environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

The latest recognition not only strengthens Lupin’s global reputation but also reflects the growing importance of sustainable practices within the pharmaceutical industry. By continuing to invest in climate action, responsible operations, and transparent governance, the company aims to contribute meaningfully to global sustainability goals while delivering long-term value for its stakeholders.
