NTPC Kanti has allocated ₹1 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for 2026-27 to develop seven Chhath Ghats in and around its project area in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The initiative aims to provide safer and better facilities for devotees and local communities during Chhath Puja.
NTPC Kanti to Develop Seven Chhath Ghats Under CSR Initiative
New Delhi, September 19: NTPC Kanti has allocated ₹1 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for the financial year 2026-27 to develop seven Chhath Ghats in and around its project area in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The initiative is aimed at improving local infrastructure and providing safer and more convenient facilities for devotees and residents.
The proposed development works will be carried out through the concerned department of the Bihar Government under the Deposit Work Scheme. Pankaj Kumar Gupta, Head of Project, NTPC Kanti, has written to the District Magistrate, Muzaffarpur, requesting that the works be executed through the appropriate state government department.
The seven Chhath Ghats identified for development are Birpur Pokhar, Sain Pokhar, Maisaha Pokhar, Panapur Kariyat Thana Pokhar, Sirsia Math Pokhar, Damodarpur Ganga Ram Pokhar and Rani Pokhar.
These water bodies are used by local residents and attract large numbers of devotees during Chhath Puja. The proposed infrastructure improvements are expected to support safer and more organised celebrations, particularly during the festival season when public activity around the ponds increases.
The initiative will benefit residents of nearby villages, including Project Affected Villages (PAVs), by improving access to community facilities. The development of the Chhath Ghats is also expected to support local infrastructure beyond the festival period.
Through this CSR allocation, NTPC Kanti is focusing on community development around its operational area. The proposed works highlight the company’s efforts to support local residents and strengthen basic public facilities through cooperation with the Bihar Government.
The ₹1 crore allocation for the seven Chhath Ghats is expected to contribute to safer gathering spaces and improved facilities for communities in and around the NTPC Kanti project area.
