Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay of Tamil Nadu unveiled new welfare initiatives for the state’s citizens. Beginning with Pongal 2027, qualifying families will receive three complimentary LPG cylinders each year.
About thirteen million families in the state are expected to benefit from this effort. Deluxe government buses are now included in the list of free bus travel options for women. Additionally,transgender people will now be eligible for free transportation on state buses.

Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday announced a series of welfare programmes in the state assembly, building on his electoral promises.Building on his election pledges, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay presented a number of social initiatives in the state parliament on Monday.
Vijay announced a plan to give free LPG cylinders to qualified families and extended the benefits of free bus travel for women and transgender people.
The cost of three LPG cylinders will be given to qualified families annually under the new “Annapoorani Super Six” program; the money will be directly credited to bank accounts. Around 13 million families are anticipated to benefit from the program, which will be introduced around Pongal 2027. The program, which is expected to cost the state ₹4,000 cr annually, will cover families with an annual income of up to ₹2.5 lakh.
Vijay declared that the state’s free bus travel program for women would be expanded. Express, limited stop, and premium government buses will now provide free transportation for women.
